Edit: Updated a few rules!! more specifically, the last two rules. Please read and keep them in mind when submitting.
Hello everyone! A couple members have asked for a clearer outline to what we do and don't accept here at AdoptionClub
and I'm happy to give you all the rundown!1. Maker Game Adopts
We do not accept adoptables made in games or online creators. The reason for this being we would prefer to showcase original adopts with as much creativity as possible! In games, you are given pre-made options.
This also includes Dream Selfies, Gaia Avatars, and much much more. If you can create them without the use of an art program, we will not accept it. Also please do not use the line art from the games, as it makes it confusing for us.2. Our Quality Standard
Several groups are starting to bump up their quality and we're here to do the same. We mean absolutely no offense when we decline your submissions, however, you must understand we cannot accept fill-bucket fiascos with just the default color choices. If MS Paint is the only program at your disposal, we recommend you look for "Fill-Bucket" or "Paint" friendly line art. There are tons around DeviantArt! (Also note that we do not
accept any adopts that are brightly colored/filled!)3. Head Shot and unfinished adopts
We have been starting to crack down on having only full-body adopts in the group. For obvious reasons, the character must be fully seen so the buyer knows what markings it has on the rest of it. You may debate this if you have a full-body rendition in downloadable content, but we must be allowed to see it for acceptance purposes. This may happen if you choose to do a half-mystery adopt, but again, this is debateable and we are more than willing to help you.
As for unfinished, if an adopt looks like it is only a sketch we will not accept it. Thank you for understanding. ^^4. Illegal Content
We do not, under any circumstances, allow illegal content to be shared in our group.
This includes, but not limited to:
Selling game data for points or cash (Pokemon, Animal Crossing items, etc.)
Selling games and items on Steam, Origin, etc for points or cash
Selling illegal downloads of movies, TV shows, or music for points or cash
Selling off-site material of any kind for points or cash
are not to be used in this manner. It even claims this in the ToS for points. about.deviantart.com/points/
(See the terms link to the upper right.)
Secondly, media companies also claim in all of their terms that their data is not to be sold for any online currency or cash. This is punishable by fine, jail, or both. Please always read the terms you agree to!5. Mystery Adoptable results and closed adopts
We would like for every adoptable in our gallery that you see to always be available. We are constantly removing closed adopts and submissions that were sent in by users who are no longer part of the site.
Sometimes our admins may not be around when you submit your adoptable. If your adoptable says "Closed" or "Sold" we will decline it. I would also like to suggest that you do not put "closed species" in your title, as we may get confused thinking it is gone. Also avoid putting "0/#" but instead put #/# and decrease the first number as adopts are sold.
As for the mystery adopt results, we do not allow "hatched" or "revealed" submissions, because they have already been sold to a member. Please only submit the egg or palette and remove it when it is purchased. Thanks! ^^6. Mature Content
We do not accept erotic adoptables. Gore adoptables are still a topic for discussion.
"Erotic" refers to adopts that are meant to look extremely provocative/sexy. "Nudity" can fall into this category if the adoptable has exaggerated sexual features or is blatantly showcasing anything genital related. However, adoptables that are not sexually themed but aren't wearing any clothes will usually be okay.
This policy will apply to all deviations, even ones with Mature Filters! We understand that some people may not agree with this policy, but we want the group to be comfortable for everyone. We get few submissions like this anyway!7. Adopts referenced off real characters
If your adoptable is just a character from a show as something different (such as a Rainbow Dash (MLP) dog or a dragon) we will not accept it. These types of "adopts" are better left as fan art. You are essentially trying to sell an already canon character.
Now, Gijinkas are an exception because they emulate a creature turning human and they are usually very unique in their clothing style and personalities. (Pokemon for example.)8. Guidelines for the Adoption Journals Folder.
The adoption journal folder is for exactly that. Journals advertising or looking for adopts. Commissions, contests, raffles, group advertisement, and Species Information
are not to be posted in there. Images of course are not allowed, either, unless they are in the journal entry.9. Your Character Here Submissions
Your Character Here auctions are not necessarily selling an adoptable - therefore do not belong in the group. We apologize for the inconvenience!
10. Original Species
We do not accept any original species guides/references, as you are not selling anything. They are not allowed if you are just selling customs off it, either. We also do not accept MYOs, as they aren't finished designs.11. Customs
We do not accept deviations or journals just selling customs, since there are no premade designs. The only exception is mystery/egg/palette adopts.
