Group Submission Rules
Update 10.17.2018: It is now mandatory to include whether or not your adopt is open or closed in the title. (Rule #3)
Please at least skim these rules before submitting to our group! We are not obligated to tell you WHY your submission was declined, all of that information is available to you here.
1. NO Maker Game Adopts OR Closed Species Rip Offs
We do not accept adoptables made in games or online creators. The reason for this being we would prefer to showcase original adopts with as much creativity as possible! In games, you are given pre-made options.
This also includes Dream Selfies, Gaia Avatars, and much much more. If you can create them without the use of an art program, we will not accept it. Also please do not use the line art from the games, as it makes it confusing for us.
We will also not accept closed species rip offs. Intentionally ripping off a species that is exactly the same for "lols" or making fun of people who participate in closed species, or to profit off of a popular CS, is generally disrespectful and drama inducing, and therefore AdoptionClub will not tolerate these kinds of adopts.
To clarify, this does not mean "similar" CS adopts that have similar traits. We mean exact ripoffs, especially in a disrespectful manner, such as Aquanines (rip of Waterdogs).
2. NO "Closed" (Already Purchased) Adopts
We do not accept adopts that have already been sold. This includes completed customs, references, and RESULTS of mystery adoptions or breedings.
3. NO Lack of Purchase Status in the Title
A new rule is to add Open or Closed in the title of your deviation. This makes things easier for the contributors when cleaning out the folders, and insures people are aware that your adopt is actually available for purchase.
4. NO Mature Content
We do not accept erotic adoptables. Gore adoptables are still a topic for discussion.
"Erotic" refers to adopts that are meant to look extremely provocative/sexy. "Nudity" can fall into this category if the adoptable has exaggerated sexual features or is blatantly showcasing anything genital related. However, adoptables that are not sexually themed but aren't wearing any clothes will usually be okay.
This policy will apply to all deviations, even ones with Mature Filters. We want the group to be comfortable for everyone. We get few submissions like this anyway.
5. NO "Your Character Here" (YCHs)
Your Character Here auctions are not necessarily selling an adoptable - therefore do not belong in the group.
6. NO Breedables
Breedables are not accepted since they are taking to existing characters, often main stream pop characters, and putting their colors and features onto the same base. We do not feel this meets the spirit of creativity we are looking for with adopts submitted to the group.
Please do not argue that this is not what you do, we can make no exceptions or we would have to change the rule, so no breedables.
7. NO Adopts referenced off real characters
If your adoptable is just a character from a show as something different (such as a Rainbow Dash turned into a dog or a dragon) we will not accept it. These types of "adopts" are better left as fan art. You are essentially trying to sell an already canon character.
Now, Gijinkas are an exception because they emulate a creature turning human and they are usually very unique in their clothing style and personalities. (Pokemon for example.)
Our Quality Standard
Adoptables that have poor anatomy, shading, or bad color choices will not be accepted. Poorly paint bucket filled and scribbly adopts will be declined as well. We understand that quality is somewhat subjective, so please do not be offended when we decline submissions because of this rule.
Recent inactivity and resubmissions
Hi all! The last 3-4 months have been a little wonky in the group, huh?
I'd like to personally apologize. I had a difficult life situation come up and I disappeared for that time.
I am back however, and wanted to say that the group will soon be back on track. However, to make this easier for our current contributors, I had to delete all of the old and recent submissions to our group. Therefore, while normally discouraged, for this situation, I encourage anyone who has recently submitted an adoptable to go ahead and resubmit to us. We had over 1000 submissions we were attempting to go through prior, with all of them gone it will be easier to
We Need More Contributors! (closed)
7/29/20; Contributor applications are being reopened! If you were not accepted the last round, you are encouraged to resubmit the application in case you were missed!
What do contributors do?
The main role of contributors is to approve and decline submissions. These come into your inbox, and you have the option to accept or decline them. Secondary roles are removing closed adopts as well as relocating any that are in the wrong folders. If you are interested in becoming a contributor, you NEED to have a general grasp of our rules and folder descriptions. It is also very important that you read through the section on our quality standard (on t
Reminder!!
Submission Reminders!
I'd like to remind our members of a few things, since there has been a big increase in submissions that are being rejected. These are the most common reasons I've seen:
---------------------------------------------------------
1.Anything that looks human-ish, if it walks on two feet and has ANY human-like characteristics, it belongs in "Humanoid, Gijinka, Anthro, Kemonomimi". So even if it is an anthro based off a cat, it goes to this folder, NOT to "Feline -Cats-".
2. We do NOT accept closed (or already purchased) adopts and we never have. This also goes for reference sheets of your species or individual characters -

:thumb437447742:What is an "adoptable"?
Adoptables are character designs that people buy, sell, and trade. Many companies hire artists to design characters to be their mascots. DeviantART's userbase does similar transactions, like posting designs up for sale that other users buy. (Prices have been noted to range anywhere from 1:points: to $1000+!). This is why there are so many adoptable related groups on deviantArt; character designers need publicity!
